You can bring photos and videos from your Google Photos into the media library without downloading them first. You pick them in Google's own window, and Geminel copies only what you pick.

Import your photos

  1. Open the launcher and press Media. If you want the files in a category or folder, choose it in the list on the left first.
  2. Open the menu next to Upload and press Import from Google Photos.
  3. Press Sign in with Google and sign in with the Google account that holds the photos. Geminel only sees the items you pick, for one hour.
  4. Press Open Google Photos. Choose your photos and videos in the Google Photos window, then press Done there.
  5. Back in Geminel the sheet says Waiting for your selection… until Google confirms. Then the import starts by itself and shows Importing… with its progress.
  6. When it says Import finished, the files are in the library and are analysed like any upload. Press Import more to pick again.

You can close the sheet while it imports. The import carries on, and files appear in the library as they arrive. If you close it while you are still choosing, the import is cancelled.

If something goes wrong

  • A file that could not be imported is listed with the reason.
  • If the sign-in runs out before you chose anything, the sheet says The Google sign-in expired before anything was chosen. Press Import more and start again.
