Every file in your media library takes up storage. This guide shows how to see what is used, what to do when your plan's storage is full, and where storage appears in Billing. For figures, see Pricing.
See how much is used
- Open the launcher and press Media.
- On a wide screen, look at the Storage row at the foot of the list on the left. On a phone, look at the bar in the folder's title line. It shows what is used, what your plan allows and a bar.
All files in the library count, including videos Geminel made for you. When you delete a file, it stops counting.
When storage is full
Upload turns off and a note says Your plan's storage is full. Delete files or upgrade in Billing. To make room:
- Open a file you no longer need.
- Press Delete and confirm.
A file that a post uses can only be deleted after you remove it from the post.
Where storage shows in Billing
The Billing screen in the console shows storage under Usage. If your plan includes a storage allowance, the storage line shows what you used against it. On Pay as you go, a first part of your storage is free, and the rest is billed when the period closes. The storage line says so. What is billed is paid from your credits: see Credits: paying as you go.
Good to know
- Billing is shown to the workspace's owner and payer, and to members who were given billing access. If you cannot open it, ask the payer.
- If you don't see the Storage row in Media, there is no storage limit to show for your workspace.
- To bring files in from Google Photos, see Import from Google Photos. If you don't see that option, ask us with Help and feedback.
