Once Geminel has assembled your video, the Edit step lets you adjust it before it is rendered. Every change saves as you make it.

Open the edit

  1. Open the post and go to Edit in the bar at the foot of the screen. The screen is called Edit the video.
  2. If you see Nothing to edit yet, press Choose a format and finish the earlier steps first (see Make a video: formats and the steps).

Change the video

  1. Press a scene in the lanes, or use the tabs under What to edit: Scene, Voice-over, Captions, Music and Issues.
  2. On Scene, move a scene with Move the scene earlier and Move the scene later, or remove it with Delete the scene. A video keeps at least one scene.
  3. Press a clip to open it. Start here and End here cut the clip at the frame the preview shows, and Swap opens Swap the clip, where you press Use this on a replacement.
  4. For text on the screen, press Edit on its row.
  5. On a video narrated by Geminel, the narration row has a menu with Edit the line and Voice it again. Where a new voice-over costs credits, the cost shows beside the action (see Credits).
  6. On Captions, use Show captions, Style, Words per caption and Highlight the spoken word. On Music, use Add music or Change the music, Level, Lower the music under the voice and Fade out.
  7. Open Issues to see problems. Where Geminel can fix one, press the button on its row, for example Apply suggested fix.
  8. Press Undo (Ctrl+Z) or Redo (Ctrl+Shift+Z) to step back and forward. The chip next to them reads Saved once your change is stored.

Keep a scene as it is

Switch on Lock this scene and Geminel leaves that scene alone. Changing a scene locks it, so your version survives when you ask Geminel for changes.

Ask Geminel to change it

  1. Press Request changes.
  2. Under What should change?, tell Geminel in your own words.
  3. Press Send back for a new edit. Geminel revises the edit and keeps the scenes you locked. Nothing is rendered until you render it.

Render

  1. Press Render. After the first render it reads Render again. The hint beside it names the renderer and the time it takes.
  2. While it works you see Rendering version and a progress bar. Cancel render stops it.
  3. When you see Render is up to date, press Review and approve and continue in Review a video and its checks.

If Render is off and the hint says Fix the problems in Issues first, open Issues and fix what is marked as an error.

Go back to an earlier version

  1. Open the menu More actions for the edit and choose Version history.
  2. Press Restore next to a version and confirm. It becomes the newest version, and the one you left stays in the history.

Good to know

  • You can edit only while the post is a draft. After that the screen says The post is no longer a draft, so its video cannot be changed. While Geminel is working on the video, wait until it is done.
  • If the video was changed in another window, you can choose Keep my version or Load theirs.
  • On a video narrated by Geminel, the menu also has Change the voice of the whole video. It voices every line again and your manual edits are lost, though they stay in the version history.
  • If you don't see the Effects and Look tabs, ask us with Help and feedback.
