The Sources step is where you give the video its material. The format you chose says what it needs, and the step tells you when you have enough to go on.
Add your sources
- Open the post and go to Sources. If no format is chosen yet, press Choose a format first: see Make a video.
- Under Ways to add, use any of these:
- Drop MP4 or MOV files on the box Drop your footage here. On a phone it reads Upload your footage.
- From the media library: tick clips and pictures you already have, then press Add to this video.
- A picture or logo to feature: choose a file that must appear in the video.
- A link: paste an article or a video to draw on, choose This video only or Reusable, then press Add the link. A reusable link is also added to your knowledge base.
- A brief: write the facts, figures and the one thing viewers should remember, then press Add the brief.
- Your own script: see Review the script, or bring your own.
- Check In this video. It lists everything added. While files are still processing, the needs panel says so and the button waits.
- Press Write the script at the foot of the screen. The button is off until the video has what it needs.
What this video needs
On the web this panel sits beside the list. On a phone, press the summary row at the top to open it. Each line is Needed or Optional, with Missing beside a needed source you have not added. The summary row reads Ready when you can go on, and Needs with a count until then.
Under Shape, choose where the video goes, such as a reel, a story, a feed post or a YouTube video. Under Voice and knowledge, a video that is Made for you shows its narration voice with Change (see Check the voice and choose voices), and Manage opens your knowledge base.
Change a source
Press the menu beside a source. Depending on the source you can choose:
- It must appear: Geminel places it, or tells you why it couldn't.
- Make it reusable or Keep it for this video only.
- Edit the brief or Edit the script.
- Remove from this video. The file stays in your media library.
Good to know
- You can add and change sources only while the post is a draft.
- A video made From your footage keeps its own sound. Your script then guides the writer instead of being read out.
- A link to someone else's video shows Check rights. Check that you may use it before you publish.
- If you can't add files, the workspace owner may have limited who can use the media library. Ask the owner.
- If a step cost is shown beside the button, it is in credits: see Credits: paying as you go.
