Ask the assistant

Ask Geminel about the product or your workspace, and let it make changes for you: small ones with Undo, bigger ones only after you press Confirm.

The assistant answers questions about Geminel and about your workspace, and does things for you within what your role allows. Your chats are private to you.

Open it

  • Press Ctrl+. (⌘. on a Mac).
  • Or press the round mark in the dock to open the launcher, then the first row, Ask Geminel. You can type your question in the launcher first.
  • Or press Ask about this on a post or an inbox conversation, and the assistant starts from that item.

On a computer the panel sits at the right and the screen stays usable, so you see changes land. On a phone it opens from the bottom. Press Esc to close it.

Ask a question

Type it and press Enter. It can explain how Geminel works, using the help centre, and look at your workspace: posts, plans, the library, the inbox, analytics and more. Its sources show under the answer. Like any AI, it can make mistakes, so check what matters.

Let it make changes

What happens depends on the change:

  1. Simple changes happen at once: a new draft, a caption edit, a file's tags. The assistant shows Done, with Undo next to it.
  2. Anything that goes to your audience, is shared, deletes something or costs credits shows a card first. Read what will change, then press Confirm or Cancel. Nothing happens until you confirm.
  3. A paid card shows the likely cost before you confirm. See What things cost.
  4. Many files at once, for example tags on a whole folder, need a single confirmation for the whole batch.

Long work, such as a plan or a video, is followed in the chat as a task card. You get a notice when it needs you or is done: see Notifications.

What it leaves to you

The assistant never handles money, identity or secrets. For top-ups, plans, cards, invoices, members, deleting an account, connecting a social account and pasting a key, it gives you the link to the right page instead.

It also never gives consent or answers on your behalf, such as TikTok's consent or a YouTube "made for kids" answer.

Good to know

  • It can do only what your role allows. If you can't approve posts, it can't approve them for you: see Approve, schedule and publish.
  • How much Geminel does without asking is set in Autonomy. Agents are described in See your agents and how they work together.
  • Its messages are charged as AI usage, like any other AI call. See Credits: paying as you go and Pricing.
  • What it does is recorded as "Assistant for" followed by your name. Whoever can open the workspace's Audit page can filter it with Through the assistant.
  • If the panel says the assistant is switched off, Geminel has paused it for now. If it says billing blocks your workspace, the payer needs to fix that first.
  • If you don't see the assistant, ask us with Help and feedback. What you see depends on your workspace.
